Prigel Family Creamery

Bellevale Farm on Long Green Road, has been in the Prigel family for over 100 years. Recently the Prigels decided to build a small creamery so they could process their own organic milk and make yogurt, ice cream, butter and cheese. The creamery will allow our community to enjoy fresh local produce, cuts out the middleman and may be the key to enabling the next generation of Prigels to keep farming.

After completing construction with full state, county and Maryland Agricultural Land Preservation Foundation approval, the Prigels are facing a group of local home owners who have initiated a costly legal battle to stop the creamery. Many of those local home owners were members of the Long Green Valley Association that wrote a letter in support of the creamery, only to retract it later and initiate a law suite against the Prigels.

More information about the Creamery can be found the Prigel's Creamery Website.
